SmartCare Sustainability Strategy

The Zambia Ministry of Health in collaboration with CDC and BroadReach contracted Klinex to develop a Sustainability Strategic Plan and costed workplan for SmartCare (a patient level electronic medical record) in Zambia. The purpose of this assignment was to comprehensively document and cost the people, processes, technology and infrastructure requirements necessary for the sustainability of SmartCare by the Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) through the MOH, Smart Zambia Institute (SZI) and other partners.

Mid-term evaluation of the Millennium Development Goal Initiative (MDGi)

The Euro Health Group of Denmark partnered with Klinex to conduct the Mid-term evaluation of the MDGi for accelerating progress towards Reduction of Maternal, Neonatal and Child Morbidity and Mortality (including stunting and malnutrition) in Zambia in 2016. The MDGi program was funded by European Union.

Child Protection initiative (SEEVCA) Case Management – Information management Systems

The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services in collaboration with UNICEF engaged Klinex consultants to develop and adapt the SEEVCA IMS to support reporting on PEPFAR Indicators; develop User Guidelines for the CM IMS and training materials and Troubleshooting on the use of the tool with M&E officers and ICT officers in MCDSS (HQ and Provincial SWO and DSWO), SWAZ and UNICEF. The IMS collected data in all areas of child vulnerabilities including GBV in 15 districts.

Children in formal Care Case Management - Information Management System (IMS)

The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services in collaboration with UNICEF engaged Klinex consultants to develop IMS and User Guidelines for the alternative care program, the consultants conducted trainings at all levels and Troubleshooting on the use of the tool. The IMS collected data from 52 districts of Zambia.

CMMB engaged Klinex consultants to develop the online/offline case management information management system for Kusamala project that could easily interoperate with the national database.

COVID-19 Information Management System - MCDSS

UNICEF and Ministry of Community Development and Social Services engaged Klinex consultants to develop a COVID-19 online database to capture the COVID-19 status of child-care facilities registered with the ministry to track incidence and adverse effects to inform planning and remedial measures.

Develop community HMIS (c-HMIS) Tools and manuals

Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) and Ministry of Health engaged Klinex consultants to review and realign c-HMIS data collection and aggregation tools (HIA4a & HIA4b tools). This included, revising existing tools, developing missing tools for CBVs, defining a compendium of c-HMIS indicators, developing the user and definitions manuals spanning use of paper-based tools and DHIS2 based c-HMIS system.

Developed requirements document for Digital Community Case Management System

Palladium provided a sub award to Klinex to strengthen the Vulnerable Children and Adolescents (VCA) data management system in Zambia, specifically by Establishing a Technical Working Group (TWG) for VCA information systems governance, providing technical support for the new online Management Information Systems and supporting the planning of the future iteration of the MIS. Support SmartCare development in Zambia

BroadReach with support from Centers for Disease Control (CDC Zambia) contracted Klinex to support development of remaining reports and android applications to support SmartCare an Electronic Health Register implemented by the Zambia Ministry of Health. Specific tasks included; finalizing the development, testing of Offline/online SmartCare plus (SC+) and synchronization framework, developing all prioritized automated reports making sure they are fully functional and data presented within margin of error as per PEPFAR acceptable quality standards, develop native android functionality in SmartCare Plus, Legacy SC: Enhanced Card Format (Facilitate One way import of existing data in SC+) and SC+: Reading and writing Legacy SmartCare Format Cards (Import+ overwrite Legacy SC cards with new SC+ only format) (2021)

Provision of Third-Party Monitoring services of programmes and supplies of UNICEF funded projects

Klinex was engaged by UNICEF to undertake programme and Supply monitoring (including end-user monitoring) as part of the third-party assurance activities to monitor and/or verify that UNICEF- supported activities are being implemented, with quality and integrity, by NGO and/or government partners; and contributing to improved wellbeing of children and women. Klinex support the planning, implementation, management and reporting on programmatic visits and supply end-user monitoring through deploying relevant technical professionals as part of a monitoring mechanism, using specific monitoring tool and onsite spot checks of UNICEF funded projects.

Develop a National integrated Statutory Case Management Information System (iSCMIS)

Klinex was contracted by UNICEF to support the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services (MCDSS) to develop an integrated electronic statutory case management information system (iSCMIS) that tracks, captures, and enables reporting on all statutory cases related to VAC/GBV; child marriage; circumstance children; migrant children, children in conflict with the law and child victims/witnesses in contact with the law for the MCDSS. Activities included: Functional & non-functional requirements document, developing new electronic data capture tools in new iSCMIS system, Software source code and unit tests uploaded to government repository, Demonstrable usability enhancements and usability, Case referral protocols and workflows report, Middleware software code and unit tests, Dashboard and reports in new iSCMIS, Dashboard & reporting Software code and unit tests uploaded to government-controlled repository, User acceptance testing report and system documentation, iSCMIS system hosted in production environment, System hosting report and training.

Digital solution for virus respiratory diseases surveillance in Zambia

Klinex was contracted by FIND to support Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI) to develop digital solutions that allow the integration of epidemiological and laboratory data (including genomic data) on respiratory viruses into a digital system that produces a basic analytical output and can be easily maintained and utilized in Zambia. A digital solution will pull data from DHIS2 Tracker and any additional data sources at point of care, link it to the Laboratory information systems in use (DISA and others), and bring in genomic data from laboratories and institutions currently conducting genomic surveillance. The system will produce analytical outputs (graphs, reports, etc. as defined by the systems users) that summarizes the data in a way that is relevant for public health decision makers.
